Jammu & Kashmir Government Announces 5% DA Hike for 6th Pay Commission Employees

In a good development for the state employees in Jammu and Kashmir, a 5% rise in Dearness Allowance (DA) for the persons on the pay scales of the 6th Pay Commission has been sanctioned by the state government. The press release was made on October 28, 2025, and the new DA is applicable from July 1, 2025. To tackle the problem of rising inflation and cost of living the government has decided to take this step.

Who Will Benefit?

The increase will be granted only to those employees who are still on the 6th Central Pay Commission. The DA rate of these employees has been revised from 252% to 257% of basic pay. This includes some government department officials, autonomous organizations, and state-owned enterprises. The scheme aligning with central government DA revisions helps the low-income employees the most.

Arrears and Payment Timeline

The official order of the Finance Department states that the payment of cash for July to September 2025 will be made in October, and the revised DA will start appearing in the monthly salaries of the employees from October 2025. The government has also informed that the fractions of DA of 50 paisa and above will be rounded up to the next rupee while those below 50 paisa will be ignored.

Final Thoughts

This 5% DA hike by the Jammu and Kashmir government is a well-timed measure to support the employees who are suffering due to the cost of living and inflation. The government reinforces its commitment to the employees by stepping up with the DA payment and aligning its pay hike with the trend evident across the board in the Central Government’s pay and DA hikes. The employees are also advised to check their latest pay slips and to contact the finance office of their department for clarification.
